The communities of Lincoln County are primarily resort communities and our market is primarily second homes. We are located in the south-central Sacramento Mountains. This beautiful community offers; golfing, skiing, fishing, horse racing, Hubbard Museum of the American West, the Spencer Theater, biking & walking trails, zip lines, casino’s, art galleries, shopping and numerous historical sites – all of which attract second home buyers!. We think it would be helpful for you to look at the Ruidoso Chamber of Commerce website and the Ruidoso Visitor’s Guide. Folks are also drawn by our climate…cool in the summer when everyone else is hot (approximate elevation is 6,900 to 7,300 in town over 12,000 on top of the ski area). Ski Apache is the southernmost ski area in the US so our temperatures at the ski area are some of the most comfortable anywhere.
The community information is confusing and inaccurate. The spoke of Lincoln County is the Village of Ruidoso, with neighboring Ruidoso Downs (a Village), Alto Lakes Golf & Country Club (an unincorporated village just north of Ruidoso that includes the Outlaw, Kokopelli Golf Club, Ranches of Sonterra, Rainmakers, and the historic community of Lincoln. We do not have suburbs in Lincoln County – all are Villages or Rural areas! So there should be tabs for Ruidoso, Ruidoso Upper Canyon, Alto Lakes G&CC w/ the Outlaw (also includes Kokopelli), Ranches of Sonterra, Rainmakers, and Ruidoso Downs and North of Alto which includes Nogal, Capitan, Lincoln, Carrizozo (these are the rural communities). We are assuming you will need help in setting up searches such a “the upper canyon area” and we will be glad to help. We also know that our geography is confusing and an overview map showing these specific areas would be helpful. We have attached an example.
